Ancient wild woodland nature reserve with a round walk of about 1.5 miles, including footways along the steep slopes of the River Wansbeck valley. Abundant wildlife and special flora.

Nearest major road is A197. From the south take the A197, Morpeth turn off then left onto the B6524, signposted Whalton and Belsay. From the north take the A192, Morpeth turn off then the 2nd right onto the B6343 signposted Mitford/Cambo.

Nearest station is Morpeth Station. Follow the footpaths to Morpeth town centre and then to Lowford Bridge. Turn left onto public footpath (signposted Mitford) walk to the foot of High House bank, the entrance gate to the site can be found on the west side of the road.
